Wow! that was a quick year!

We have had a fantastic year in Moutere.
It is hard to believe that the school year is finished.

I have had the privilege of teaching a wonderful group
of children. It has been exciting to be part of their lives.
They have taught me heaps every day!

Moutere Blog will be continued next year by another
great bunch of children from Appleby School.

Look what we have got!

We are really lucky. We have got a brand new computer!
It is really cool and we will be able to do heaps
of interesting stuff with it.

How cool is that!

We have now added a clock and a map to our Blog.
Looks flash don't you think?

Now we will be able to see where you are in the world.

The clock will be handy for anyone who visits our
blog and it will help us to get better at telling the time.

Wet lunch time.

It was wet today at lunch time.
We had to stay inside so we found cool stuff to do.
Some of us built this tower.

Oh No!!!!

Our classroom computer has died!!!!

It was fine, then all of a sudden it froze so Raewyn had to turn it off.
When she turned it back on it made strange clicking noises and a little question mark came on the screen.

Raewyn said, "Oh dear, this is not good!"

Mrs Pritchard said, "That is what my one at home did, we had to get a new one"

Mr B said, "I don't like the look of that, Miss K might know what to do."

Miss K said, "Not good, I think I will ring the help line"

The help line said, "Sorry, we think it is dead!"

We said, "Oh No!!!"

We think we will have to get a new one!

My Ship

We have had a fantastiic holiday but it is great to be back with our friends!

Rachel's Rabbit

I brought my Rabbit to school .He is called Marshmellow.
He has Red eyes and it has fury feet
My rabbit has brown ears and white fur on his body.

We forgot to take a photo of Marshmellow at school so
I am taking the camera home tonight to take a cool photo .

In Picton

I have been away in Picton over the weekend at an ICT conference learning all sorts of cool things that we can do in our classroom with the computers.

Ready for take off!

We have got our planes ready for Flying Day at school today.


My plane is stable because I added a stabilizer at the back.- REBEKAH



It was hard putting elevators and ailerons on my plane. -JAKE

The wings on my plane are stiff and long. -BREE

We have tried hard to make them fly but most of them don't get much LIFT.
Our planes don't have any power of their own so they have trouble staying in the air for very long.
Our best planes are the ones that are light and stable.
The thing we don't like about our planes is that we can't fit in them and go for a ride!

we have a new class member

Raewyn has brought a new friend for our classroom.
We think this bird is a duck.
Te Rina likes the colours under its wings.
When you pull the little black bird that is hanginging down the ducks wings go up and down.
The duck can fly!
Jake thinks the duck could fly to Jamacia and back!

Trip to Motueka Aero Club

Today our clas went to visit the Aero Club at Motueka Airfield.
We went to see how the aeroplanes actually worked.




George sat in the plane and pushed the pedals with his feet to make the rudder move. The rudder makes the plane turn left or right.





Everyone had a turn at making the elevators go up and down by pulling the controls forward.The elevators make the plane go up or down at the front.
To tip the plane from side to side we had to turn the controls left or right.

Bird Kids

How do brids fly with their wings . We want to know how Gliders fly too.
People in our room have been bringing collections of flying things.
We have heaps of stuff in our room about flight.

How do you think that Bella made the hot airballoon?
It is made out of purple and silver tissue paper and PVA glue. Her Mum and Dad helped her, they had to make sure it had no holes in it at all otherwise the air would come out.
We made it go up in the air with a hairdryer.

We know about flight.
Little planes fly because they have wings and they have motors .
We want to know how jetplanes fly.

Our new topic is FLIGHT. Our homework task at the moment is to make a collection of things that we think have got something to do with flight. Georgia has already brought her collection to school to share.
