We are getting excited about CHRISTMAS!
Every morning two people get to pull the CHRISTMAS CRACKER that is hanging on our tree.
In side there is a joke and a paper crown.

Our artworks for calendars

These are the artworks we have done to use for our calendars this year.
We drew ourselves on a piece of paper and then traced it lots of times in different positions on a bigger piece of paper. We used vivids and pastel to make the colours really stand out.
We are really pleased with how they look.

We are back!

We had a really fun holiday but it is great to be back at school with all our friends!
Zoe went skiing and a Kea nearly ate her lunch!
Liam went fishing and caught two Maori Chief.
Harriet went to Shantytown and on a train right across to Christchurch!
Torbea had fun staying home being a lazybones! That is what holidays are all about!

Sharing

We have had the chance to share our work with our parents this week.
It was great because it made us feel proud of what we have done.
Jordan said we felt confident to talk about our work.
We could tell that our Mums and Dads were proud of us too!
It is important to talk about the good things and to set new goals.
Raewyn said she was impressed by how much talking, sharing and explaining we all did.

Appleby Country Fair!

The Country Fair was really cool!
Alex got scared in the Haunted House! It had spider webs, slime and skeletons and it was really dark.
11 people in our class won a Lucky Jar.
Lucky Jars was our favourite game.
Zoe's Dad was helping at the plate smashing game.
We liked listening to the band, it sounded groovy.
Rachel went on the Noddy Train.
Carl bounced on the Bouncy Castle.
The pork was really yummy . The candy floss was sweet and sticky.
Torbea had fun spending his money.
Harriet got some trees for her garden.
Jack had to go to the Plate Smash lots of times because it was so much fun!
Oscar smashed a coconut!

We all had a wonderful day AND we raised heaps of money for our school.
A great big Thank you to everyone who helped !

Wow, look at the moon!

Did you see the lunar eclipse ?
Raewyn took this photo for us because it was very late and lots of us were asleep.
Jordan watched it. "We had to stay outside for ages. The moon went really red."
We talked about why it happened. It is because the shadow of the earth goes across the moon when the sun is behind the earth. The earth is in between the moon and the sun. It doesn't happen very often so it was exciting to see!

keeping Safe

We all kept safe in the holidays.
Daniel stayed with his Mum at the beach.
Jordan went to Rugby with his Dad and stayed with him.
Rachel remembered to hold her Mums hand when she crossed the road.
Liam wore his life jacket when he was in the boat.
Fletcher got separated in the Christchurch Museum! He switched on his brain and went to the shop at the museum to ask for help. The shop people were really kind and used a speaker to call out to his Mum and Dad. It worked out and Fletcher found his Mum and Dad. We think Fletcher did the right thing, do you?
